Know Beforehand

It’s best to know what we are dealing with before we actually deal with it, don’t you agree? After all, nothing’s wrong in learning something new, right? Knowing the kinds of threats, how they works and what their weaknesses are would be sufficient if we are to gain our own self protection against computer virus attacks. Antivirus Protection should come from our knowledge too.

We’re not going to talk about the details here because it would take hundreds of pages only to describe the details. But I’ll try my best and here are the bottom lines:

Kinds of Computer Viruses by ways of contagion:

1. Boot sector / Partition Virus
2. USB disk / Autorun Virus
3. Email / SMS Virus
4. Social / Psychological Virus
5. Executable files Virus
6. Multimedia Virus
7. Other kinds of Virus

How Computer Viruses Work:

1. Camouflage and spread
2. Infect / attach, spread

The weaknesses:

1. They are preventable
2. They are detectable
3. They use the same resources that we do
4. They can be removed permanently
5. We can learn from them

I hope this will open our mind a little towards a better understanding about antivirus protection in our future. I’ll write on each of these topics in later posts and give each a link to the description posts, because I kind of want to keep the posts short and organized so please be patient.
