We should be very careful when looking for a free antivirus especially when we should download it from the internet, because there are ways of trojans and malwares that pretend to be such good wares as antivirus and anti spyware but they really are working in disguise. If that question is hanging in our mind, we’re on the right track in trying to secure our system. We don’t trust any free antivirus software download. But we can do a little research about them, and be sure which ones are trustworthy. Only then can we decide.
How to do the research for a trustworthy free antivirus download?
Effective ways to prove an antivirus to be trustworthy:

- Install it in a contained virtual system.
- Learn if it tries to do malicious things or not.
- Test-infect the system with virus seeds.
- Take notes on how many viruses it can recognize, prevent and disinfect.
- Decide which ones are good and rank them.
